So you know my life-size Eddy model? Well recently I've been toying with the idea of taking him apart and selling the mannequin. Now before you all say 'nuuu but the Eddy prop is cool, you can't just destroy him', try and see it from my point of view;
My house is modest, and I don't have a studio or any place to store large art projects. Currently, Eddy is taking up my entire sofa, I can't find any further use for him, and he's starting to fall apart anyway. I don't feel a need to restore him unless I know he will be used for something. As I mentioned elsewhere, in terms of representing the character of Eddy, I was never particularly satisfied with how he turned out, another reason why I wouldn't feel too guilty about taking him apart.
Even so, I don't think I could sell him or donate him as he exists now, because Eddy is not yet established enough that I would be comfortable with someone else owning something relating to the character. That's why, at the moment, I'm thinking that the best option would be to remove the Eddy modificiations and sell the mannequin at a hefty discount on the original price (due to the surface damage it will have sustained from being modified). Posable mannequins are very popular with hardcore cosplayers for displaying their costumes, but are difficult to get hold of, let alone at a reasonable price, so I'm confident that it would sell. The mannequin on its own cost me about £200 ($400), so you can understand why the model is now, sadly, feeling like a very expensive waste of space.
However I am very open to suggestions as to what to do with him. I put alot of work into him so it's hard not to get nostalgic. If you think you know a way I could sell the Eddy model without endangering my ownership of the character, I'd like to hear your ideas.
